Righteousness — A Gift of Grace

Righteousness — A Gift of Grace

Righteousness is one of the most misunderstood truths in the Christian faith.

Many people believe righteousness is something to be achieved — through effort, obedience, or moral perfection. But Scripture reveals something radically different.

“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:21

Righteousness is not earned.
It is received.

What Is Righteousness?

Righteousness is the very nature of God.
And through Christ, that righteousness has been imparted to us.

When you received Christ into your heart, eternal life was imparted to your spirit — and with it came righteousness. Not a partial righteousness. Not a temporary status. But the righteousness of God Himself.

“For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.”
— John 1:17

Reigning in Life Through Righteousness

Romans 5:17 tells us that those who receive the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness will reign in life through Jesus Christ.

This means righteousness is not passive.
It is a position of authority.

To reign is to live with confidence —
to pray boldly,
to expect answers,
and to stand firm against accusation, fear, and condemnation.

Righteousness gives you mastery over life’s circumstances.

Not Based on Performance

This truth is beautiful because it has nothing to do with your works or performance before God.

Your righteousness is the result of Christ’s finished work — His suffering, death, and resurrection. It makes no difference how far you feel you’ve wandered or how imperfect your past has been.

All that is required is to embrace the righteousness He has given.

You didn’t ask for it before He gave it to you.
And you cannot improve upon it.

Living in Freedom

In God’s presence, there is no fear, no condemnation, and no inferiority.

We are free —
free to be ourselves,
free to worship,
free to fellowship with Him.

All of this flows from His superabundant grace and the gift of perfect righteousness.

Hallelujah.

Prayer

Blessed Father,
Thank You for giving me Your righteousness as a gift.
I receive it with gratitude and live conscious of my right standing with You.
I reign in life through Your grace,
walking in freedom, confidence, and peace.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen.

I made a short video for the days when moving slowly feels hard to trust.
